Cost of study, phase 1
Phase 1 will look at making costs of study an integral part of the validation and revalidation framework for courses.
This will ensure that costs of study are consistently reviewed throughout UAL and changes are made to keep costs of study as low as possible. During assignment briefs, it will be emphasised that it is the quality of each student’s work that is being assessed, not the expense of their chosen materials.

Phase 2 will look at supporting course teams to address course cost issues even further...
Guidance to course teams, detailing good practice and case studies, is to be created by Arts SU in consultation with course leaders and the University. The SU will also implement an award for cost-saving and cost-supporting efforts by course teams as part of their yearly awards programme to highlight best practice.
The workstream will also look at facilitating means for students to recycle and exchange their materials, to support sustainability and help students reduce their study costs.
